What’s Really Like to Drive in the Faroe Islands?

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago of small islands with an absolutely stunning landscape.  At every turn there are amazing views! However, connecting these islands was not easy an task. A series of underwater tunnels, bridges and small roads were carved into the mountains in order to provide access to the villages. After reading about the one-lane tunnels, I was suddenly not so sure about wanting to drive there!  However, since public transportation was not a practical option, we decided to rent a car.  Read all about our experience driving in the Faroes – an adventure in and on itself!

Discovering the Aran Islands: A Unique Experience in Ireland

The Aran Islands are an archipielago of three islands: Inis Mór (Inishmore), Inis Méain and Inis Oírr.  The islands’ geography is similar to The Burren. Here the limestone slabs where eroded by the forces of glaciers, creating a unique landscape. Add to that the amazing cliffs over the Atlantic Ocean and you have unforgettable spectacular views.

Review: Connemara Tour with Galway Tour Company

Connemara is a region in western Ireland known for its dramatic landscape – from bogs to mountains, rivers and lakes, to sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and idyllic villages.  Even as we decided not to rent a car in Ireland, we did not want to miss out on visiting this area. After researching our options, we decided to join a tour with Galway Tour Company. We usually do not take tours and travel independently, but we felt this was the best option to visit this area. Review: Cliffs of Moher Tour with Galway Tour Company

The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most popular destinations in Ireland. This UNESCO site is located in the Burren region in County Clare, and only an hour and a half from Galway. During our visit to Ireland we decided not to rent a car. After researching our options, we decided to join a tour with Galway Tour Company, which included the Cliffs and the Burren. We usually do not take tours and travel independently, but we felt this was the best option to visit this area.

Review: Paddywagon’s Ring of Kerry Day Tour from Cork

The Ring of Kerry is a 111-mile circuit in County Kerry known for the panoramic views of the Killarney National Park. This is one of the most popular day trips in Ireland, and we sure wanted to experience it. As we decided not to rent a car for this trip, we searched for tour bus options and decided to join the Paddywagon tour from Cork. We are not fans of big bus tours and usually travel independently, but in this case there were no many options.

A Week in Ireland Without a Car: Itinerary and Planning Guide

Ireland was a destination that we always dreamed of visiting, but somehow it always escaped our grasp. Shrouded in all sorts of traditions, myths and legends, we were never quite certain what to expect. We had also been a bit discouraged to visit, as everyone claims you must rent a car to fully enjoy the Emerald Isle. We finally decided to work on an itinerary using public transportation and a few tours, and we made it work for us.  Here’s our experience.
